People like sipping Gatorade or any other sports drink after working out or while doing a strenuous activity. Electrolytes are good for our sweating bodies, but what you do not know is that the other ingredients decrease the effect of electrolytes.

According to its producers, Gatorade is claimed to improve athletic performance, and many professional athletes promote it to the world. It is not that they care for the well-being of people; it is all about profit.

    Gatorade contains:

    Brominated Vegetable Oil

It is obtained from soybeans and it is commonly used as an addition to vegetables that contain citrus oils. It is also known as a flame retardant chemical.

    Citric Acid

It is supposed to be the acid obtained from fresh citrus fruits like lemons and limes, and it is used as a preservative. But, it is actually made from GMO black mold, not fruits, and it is not fresh. On Gatorade’s official website, they say that the beverage leaves your mouth feeling fresh, but unfortunately it is terrible for your teeth.

    Natural Flavors

Products that do not contain fruit juices and spices have natural flavors. Artificial flavors are added to enhance the taste of the beverage.

    High Fructose Corn Syrup

It is made from two to three carbohydrates, and it is the source of glucose, sucrose and fructose in any sports drink.

“…rapidly become an important causative factor in the development of the metabolic syndrome, a conglomeration of risk factors that greatly elevates the risk of cardiovascular disease and DIABETES. Other research suggests that high dietary fructose consumption contributes to obesity and insulin resistance, encourages kidney stone formation, promotes gout, and is contributing to an upsurge in cases of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. Furthermore, high dietary fructose consumption is associated with increased production of advanced glycation end products (AGEs), which are linked with the complications of diabetes and with the aging process itself.”

    Monopotassium Phosphate

A soluble salt used as a fertilizer, food additive, fungicide… wait, what?
