A growing number of people nowadays have been diagnosed with colon cancer, which is one of the most common cancer types.
Numerous natural remedies have been suggested as a possible treatment in that case, but government health authorities still question them, claiming that they have not been examined enough in order to be prescribed.
The number of potential cancer healing foods and plants is extremely large, but large pharmaceutical companies would neither acknowledge the research that has already been done, nor use their funds to encourage more research.
This is not something new when it comes to alternative treatments which include food. Unfortunately, most of the research received by physicians in the Western world comes directly from pharmaceutical companies, and in general, modern science is controlled by the same.
Arnold Seymour Relman (1923-2014), Harvard Professor of Medicine and Former Editor-in-Chief of the New England Medical Journal, says that
“The medical profession is being bought by the pharmaceutical industry, not only in terms of the practice of medicine, but also in terms of teaching and research. The academic institutions of this country are allowing themselves to be the paid agents of the pharmaceutical industry. I think it’s disgraceful.”
Nevertheless, this does not suggest that other research, released in eminent peer-reviewed journals, is not being conducted, or irrelevant.
A good illustration was given in a study which demonstrated that coconut oil contains an active anti-cancer component, which is present with 50 percent of its makeup- lauric acid.
According to a study conducted at the University of Adelaide and published in the journal Cancer Research, lauric acid completely eradicated more than 90 percent of colon cancer cells in only two days of treatment in a colon cancer cell line (CRC) in vitro.
Moreover, the study cites other studies that theorize and indeed support the claims that lauric acid can induce cancer cell death, both in vitro and in vivo.
A model of normal intestinal epithelila cells was the rat tiny intestinal cell line, which once more “demonstrated that lauric acid induced considerable cell death.”
Of course, there is still much to be examined, but there is no doubt that there is a potential in these studies.
Consequently, according to the United Nations University, experiments are done on animals with the aim to discover the effects of coconut oil against cancer. Researchers have already found some interesting facts concerning this issue.
Research on the effect of coconut oil on cancer cells has not been performed in vivo, where researchers will perform experiments on a whole, living organism as opposed to a partial or dead organism. First of all, let us examine the difference between in vivo and in- vitro studies.
In the case of in vitro studies, experiments are done with cells in a Petrie dish, or in a controlled environment outside of a living organism. So, in- vivo research involves animal studies and clinical trials.
Moreover, clinical trials are high- priced, which means that researchers who examine the beneficial effects of lauric acid on cancer face numerous difficulties, as they lack proper access to funding.
More rigorous research is constantly pointed put as being extremely important, but there it is financially not possible to be conducted. Normally, this comes as a result that these studies should be funded by pharmaceutical companies, but they are not their target.
However, such a research would be more than beneficial for the rest of the population. Pharmaceutical companies support drugs and medicaments, which can be patented. Natural remedies cannot.
Dr. Peter Rost, a former vice president of one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the world, Pfizer explains the monetary issue in details in the video below.
Raw, organic, virgin coconut oil is considered to be a superfood that can help heal cancer and prevent other diseases. The extremely important cancer- fighting component of coconut oil, lauric acid, is typically found in breast milk as well. In fact, it is a medium-chain fatty acid, rich in antimicrobial qualities, and can effectively boost the immune system.
The American Society for Nutrition suggests that clinical studies have demonstrated that coconut oil fats MCFAs “may be useful in treating and preventing diseases such as diabetes, osteoporosis, virus-related diseases (mononucleosis, hepatitis C, herpes, etc.), gallbladder disease, Chron’s disease, and cancer.”
Studies claim that coconut oil can be extremely beneficial in the case of cancer, as it reduces the side- effects of chemotherapy and improves the quality of life for cancer patients. These are only a few of the many health benefits of virgin coconut oil, and there is no doubt that further research would be beneficial.
Scientists are constantly struggling to solve this especially complex issue in the modern society. They suggest new potentially effective natural cancer remedies almost daily, and they urge further examination into these potentials.
Apparently, Amazon is the place where a quarter of the active ingredients in cancer drugs can be found. Moreover, it is a fact that only 10 percent of its plants have been studied for their healing power.
Moreover, Life Sciences, Cancer Letters and Anticancer Drugs published studies which showed that artemisinin, often used in Chinese medicine, and derived of the wormwood plant, can destroy cancer cells. What’s more, it can do so by killing 12,000 cancer cells for every healthy cell.
Furthermore, newest research done by the University of Colorado showed that bitter melon juice can kill pancreatic cancer cells in vitro and in mice.
There is no doubt that, as was shown in both, in vitro and in vivo tests, bitter melon juice can provide quite encouraging effects in treating pancreatic cancer, and potentially other cancers.
