Is there life after death? Do we have a soul?
There are a number of amazing stories about the afterlife by people who survived clinical death and then returned to our world, but we rarely tend to believe their claims. As much as we find these stories unbelievable, we have to admit that after hearing so much about it there has to be some truth in it. One of the most incredible experiences of the afterlife must be the story of the 25-year old neurosurgeon from Harvard, Dr.Eben Alexander. This is his story and it must be admitted that what he experienced goes against all scientific explanations. Since he is a scientist and a renowned expert in his field we must give weight to his words.
Dr.Alexander, like many of his colleagues from the scientific community, didn’t believe in the afterlife and as a scientist he didn’t believe in the existence of a soul either. He strongly believed that all the afterlife stories of his patients were just hallucinations and fictions of imagination. But then the unimaginable happened. He developed bacterial meningitis and went into a coma for 7 days. During these 7 days he had a life-changing experience which completely changed his opinion about the afterlife.
Since his recovery, dr.Alexander has written the Number 1 bestselling book in New York, called “Proof of Heaven” in which he documented his amazing experience. He explains that this life we have on Earth is just a test which enables our soul to grow and evolve, and the only way for this to happen is if travel through life with love and compassion. We’ll share some of the most important ideas from his book.
- What he experienced in the afterlife was so vivid and realistic and made the earth experience fade in comparison;
- The main substance in the afterlife was love, which was so dominant that there was virtually no evil present. If you want to understand the Universe you must find love.
- The communication was exclusively telepathic and no words were needed to express yourself. Everything was asked and answered telepathically.
His main idea behind the book was to let the world know about the unconditional love and appreciation he felt in the spiritual realm. No one is left uncared for by God and his perfect love to all human beings in the afterlife.
He goes on about love and how it’s the foundation of everything around us. And this would be the normal kind of love we feel towards our husband or wife, our children and even our pets, not some abstract notion we cannot understand. This is that kind of love that knows no boundaries or selfishness, it’s the strongest, purest love there is.
Love is the only reality, the only truth and those who can’t understand this can never achieve or embody this unconditional love he experienced according to him.
This was his experience, and coming from a medical expert it gets us thinking. Is there really life after death? Let’s examine the credibility of his statements. During the coma his neocortex wasn’t functional which means it cannot be explained scientifically. In his book, Dr.Alexander refutes 9 scientific explanations doctors usually tell their patients and he says it couldn’t have been anything other than a real afterlife experience.
Exploring naturalistic explanations
In his book he gives 9 plausible explanations and refutes them beyond question but since we’re all laymen we’ve chosen the five of them we believe everyone can grasp and understand.
The story of Dr. Alexander can easily be dubbed the most credible one because of his scientific background but he admits what he experienced goes beyond science and deep into the spiritual realm. If a Harvard neurosurgeon claims the afterlife exists, who are we to say it doesn’t? Think about it!
